Terms of service

Effective October 18, 2026. Seat Census is a technical preview operated by Sloan Computer Research LLC dba Seat Census ("we", "us").

These terms apply to your use of Seat Census at app.seatcensus.com. By signing in, you agree to them on behalf of the organization that owns the Microsoft 365 tenant you sign in to, and you confirm you're authorized to do so. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

A technical preview

Seat Census is in technical preview. Features, plans and prices may change, and the service may be interrupted or withdrawn. There is no service-level agreement during the preview.

Your account

• Only a Global Administrator of a Microsoft 365 tenant may sign in. Use Seat Census only for a tenant you administer.
• Each Seat Census account covers one tenant. A consultant or managed service provider needs a separate account, and a separate subscription, for each tenant.
• You are responsible for what happens under your account, including who in your organization holds the Global Administrator role.

Audits, tools and actions

• Audits and tools read your tenant. Their findings, including license prices and estimated savings, are estimates meant to inform your decisions: check them before acting.
• An action changes your tenant, and runs only after you confirm it. You are responsible for the actions you confirm and their effects.
• Your use of Microsoft 365 remains subject to your agreements with Microsoft.

Plans and payment

• A free plan is available with limited features. Paid plans, where offered, are billed in advance through Stripe and renew until cancelled. We may give some accounts paid features at no charge during the preview.
• Cancelling your subscription (in the billing portal) returns your account to the free plan at the end of the period you paid for. Your account and its latest audit stay; anything the free plan doesn't keep is deleted.
• Closing your account cancels any subscription immediately, with no automatic refund, and deletes your data, as the privacy policy describes. Refunds are at our discretion: contact sales@seatcensus.com.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• access, or try to access, another organization's account or data;
• probe, scan or test the service's security, or get around its limits, without our written permission;
• interfere with the service or overload it; or
• use Seat Census in breach of the law or of anyone else's rights.

Ending the service

• You can close your account at any time on the Subscription page.
• A free account is deleted after 90 days in which no Global Admin of its tenant has signed in. Paid accounts are never deleted for being unused.
• We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or end the preview, with notice where we reasonably can.

Disclaimer and liability

Seat Census is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it arose, or US$100 if you paid nothing.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; we'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and continuing to use Seat Census after that means you accept it.
